Shrew Barrymore is a quaint, charming , English author so it's no suprise she has set her stories in a quaint, charming, Englishy part of the country. Everything is not as it seems though. There are touches of surreal about Hiccupitty Heath.

For instance, half past October - A quarter to November is about the time to hibernate.  You'd know that of course , if you had a hibernation watch, and something else you ought to know.....There are dishonest characters out there who think nothing of stealing ponds, lakes and rivers.

One day your pond is there - next morning it's gone and it's down to you to get a new one.

Then there's the lost voice. You can't find it anywhere, so all your friends help you look for it. Well what are friends for?

So you see, Hiccupity Heath maybe a gentle, folksy little place, but it's just a little......um odd.
